Hey everyone! As most of you know, I’m very excited about starting my own travel agency. This is something that I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember, but it always seemed out of reach and too much “fun” to actually be a job. However, now is the perfect time for me to concentrate on a new business which will hopefully allow me to have the flexibility to chase my daughter around and have some fun helping everyone plan amazing vacations!! I plan on blogging from time to time which is also new for me.
And, as always, my timing is impeccable! This is a horrible time for the travel industry as it could very well be the industry hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. I just read today that there is an estimated 75 million jobs and $2.1 trillion in revenue lost due to this pandemic. These are greater losses than after 9/11!! However, travel after Coronavirus is trending now which means EVERYONE will be ready to travel after the “all clear”. There are very strong sentiments regarding domestic travel versus international travel right now. Although I love international travel, there are many beautiful and unique places in our country to visit. My family will spend time in the next few years exploring closer to home.
With that being said, before we were aware that the pandemic was as urgent as it is, we escaped the cold of St. Louis and went to Punta Cana for a long weekend. Here’s a little bit of our travel…
Mid week in St. Louis, it starting snowing, but we were getting on a plane to Punta Cana. The timing couldn’t be more perfect. We both have had family and job stress so when asked what we did on vacation, we can honestly say “absolutely nothing”. Well, we ate, we drank, we sat in the sun and walked on the beach. This was my first trip to the Dominican Republic and I have to say, it is BEAUTIFUL! The beaches were pristine, the weather was mild, and travel was very smooth. As with most vacations, we were not ready to come home.
